Utilisation and safe-keeping of your details


We are fully aware that the protection of your personal information is of the utmost importance to you. For this reason, we take the utmost care and apply the highest possible security standards, to ensure that any personal data is protected from unauthorised access. Your order from the DOM online shop, your personal data and the information you provide us with regarding the transaction of payment, are protected by hi-tech security systems and additional authorisation procedures - with regard to both the transfer of information, as well as the storage of data on our servers.

The collection and processing of personal data takes place exclusively within the framework of the legal provisos of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

We store and utilise your personal data exclusively for the processing of your order and for the maintenance of customer relations. If you are a new customer to our online shop, the transaction process makes provision for you to set up an account with us, or ensures that as a “one-off customer” you provide us with personal details such as your name, your email address and your delivery address in the course of your purchase order. We save this information in your online customer account, to facilitate the smooth transaction of orders at a later stage. Additional information required for specific payment methods to complete a transaction, such as payments by credit card for example, is not saved in your online customer account on a permanent basis.

We will use your email address exclusively for specific information related to the processing of your order. Information relating to your purchase will only be used by us to improve our product range and our website with you in mind. Under no circumstances will we forward any of your personal data, including your email address, to a third party, except for service providers who may require further information for the fulfilment of your order. These may include shipping companies, our contractually aligned financial services partner and where applicable, the German credit bureau SCHUFA (or our credit insurance for credit assessments), and as the case may be, advertising distributors for our own printed advertising material. Forwarding of information to service provider partners is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the extent of the information being passed on is limited to the bare minimum. If so requested by you, we will send you advertising material (catalogues, flyers, newsletters) to the postal address, or alternatively email address you supplied. This agreement with regard to the forwarding of advertising materials agreed to in advance, can obviously be reversed with a straight forward written notice to DOM. It goes without saying that in accordance with the regulations of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), we are prepared to disclose to you at any time, the personal data that we have on record for you. In accordance with the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) you can also demand the correction, deletion and blocking of your data. Data Transfer DOM utilises a secure online data transfer process, the so-called "Secure Socket Layer" (SSL), to process your personal data. This process is compatible with most browsers. In this way the unauthorised use of your details can be safeguarded. DOM saves all its customer information on secure servers that are not accessible to unauthorised parties and are protected by a firewall from illicit access from outside. Collection and utilisation of usage data /cookies Cookies are small data files that the customer’s web browser picks up when visiting the DOM online shop and saves on the customer’s computer. These data files serve to identify the online shopper and download the information relating to the shopping process (e.g. cart, login etc.). We utilise the following cookies: • Session cookies, which are being deleted automatically after one hour. Session cookies serve the purpose of allowing the system i.e. our database to recall any articles placed in the cart for up to one hour, so that the webpage will be restored on a renewed login. • Server cookies, which are being deleted as soon as the web browser is shut down. • APID cookies in instances where pages are called up through another portal. APID cookies expire after 30 days.
